We all love those cold, white flakes that fall from the sky and put us in the holiday spirit, but have we ever thought about what the snowflakes that we catch on our tongues are really made of or even that there are different types of snowflakes?
How are snowflakes formed? Did you know that each individual snowflake contains more than 180 billion molecules (no WONDER no two are alike!)?!
Hey Elizabeth! Wow that's pretty amazing... 180 billion! Wow!! If you look at them close enough (like when they land on your car window) they really all do look a little different! Can't wait till you post some more stuff for me to "wow!" about! Congratulations on your new blog too!! Good luck! xoxo

Thanks for congratulations Alex! Also Emily thanks for that link with that article! It really was a good one. I found another link that I thought was full of good information
http://www.papersnowflakes.com/science.htm
If you go to the second page of the article it shows you in detail what the different types of flakes look like.

If you want to see some other close-up pictures of real snowflakes, check out "The Art of the Snowflake" at the library. It is a really sweet book.
